Cooling-off period for doorstep sales, by country
Spain is the only statute here that gives 30 days, and only when the contract follows an unsolicited visit to the consumer’s home or a sales excursion; Austria, France, Norway and Sweden give 14 days, and Japan 8 days counted from the day the buyer receives the written contract document. Australia gives the shortest period, 10 business days, and only for unsolicited agreements whose price is above a threshold or not known at signing. Germany’s ingested sections define the off-premises contract and grant the right of withdrawal but leave the length of the period to § 355, which is not ingested.
| Country | Cooling-off period | Which sales are covered |

How this table was built
Every row is taken from the official, consolidated text of the statute, which LawAsked loads from each government’s legislation service.
Each figure is tied to a passage quoted word for word from that text. When the page is served, it checks that every quoted passage is still in the current text of a law that is in force; if a law is amended and its wording changes, that row is hidden until a person reviews it again.
The table shows the statutory minimum only. Collective agreements, awards and individual contracts often give more than the statute, and some countries let a collective agreement set different terms.
