Purchases with no right of withdrawal, by country
Germany, France, Norway, Spain and Sweden exclude almost the same list: goods made to the consumer’s specification, perishable goods, sealed hygiene goods once opened, opened sealed recordings or software, newspapers and urgent repairs the consumer asked for. The differences are in the detail: Sweden excludes an auction only when it can also be joined by means other than distance communication, where the German, French, Norwegian and Spanish texts exclude public auctions outright; Sweden speaks of single issues of a newspaper, where the others exclude newspapers except subscriptions. Austria’s ingested § 18 keeps only the urgent-repair and public-auction exceptions, because the list in its first subsection is cut off.

- The list of excluded contracts in subsection 1 is cut off in the ingested text, so the other categories are left blank rather than guessed.
- The exceptions in subsection 1 (1)(a), (2), (3) and (5) do not apply to contracts made after an unrequested visit by the trader to the consumer’s home or on an excursion, under the conditions in subsection 4.

Japan: the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions has no matching statutory list for mail order; its § 15-3 lets the seller exclude withdrawal by a term in the advertisement, and the door-to-door exclusions are set by cabinet order (not ingested). Australia: the unsolicited-agreement rules have no such list. Netherlands: the rules sit in Book 6 of the Civil Code, which is not ingested. The United States, United Kingdom and Canada are not covered because the statutes are not ingested.
